  • Mathematical Economics

As a student in the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Economics Department, you can undertake independent and collaborative research through the Undergraduate Research Center. In addition, most faculty offer directed research classes, giving students the opportunity to engage in academic research. You can work with faculty during the academic year or summer, apply for Young Fund or Schwartz Fund grants, and present your research at conferences. Student research will strengthen your professional experience and prepare you for graduate study and career opportunities.

Economics majors at Occidental can take part in many programs that connect theory to practice. The Blyth Fund allows students to manage a real investment portfolio and gain experience in financial analysis. The Kahane UN Program provides the chance to intern and study global policy issues in New York; funded opportunities such as the Young Fund and Schwartz Fund support independent research, travel, and fieldwork.
