From experimental theater to gallery installations and community workshops, 麻豆视频 invites audiences to gather, reflect, and celebrate creativity.

This fall, Occidental鈥檚 calendar is filled with opportunities to experience art, performance, and dialogue across disciplines. 麻豆视频Live! returns for its third season with a brand new host. Music lovers can enjoy concerts by students, faculty, and guest performers. Students from Theater & Performance Studies will take the stage with productions that highlight both classic and contemporary works. No matter your interest, there鈥檚 something for everyone in Oxy鈥檚 event lineup this season. Bring a friend, grab a seat, and be part of it!

Exhibition | Flesh of the Forest

August 28 - December 13 | 6:00鈥8:00 p.m.
This semester鈥檚 main OXY ARTS exhibition, Flesh of the Forest, brings together nine artists from the African diaspora who use painting, sculpture, film, and installation to explore the forest as a space of history, memory, and imagination. Curated by Tiffany E. Barber of UCLA, the show looks at the forest as both a surreal landscape and a place of ancestral knowledge.

An outdoor screening and DJ set featuring dream hampton鈥檚 poetic film Freshwater, followed by Moonshine鈥檚 short film/documentary Za茂re Space Program.

Crafting in the Garden with Leah Thomas
October 4 | 10:00 a.m.鈥12:00 p.m.
Author and environmental advocate Leah Thomas leads a morning of hands-on making in the FEAST Garden.

Flesh of the Forest Curatorial Walkthrough with Tiffany E. Barber
October 25 | 11:00 a.m.鈥12:00 p.m.

Curator Tiffany E. Barber offers a guided walkthrough of Flesh of the Forest and shares more about the artists and their work.

A Happening in Flesh of the Forest: A Performance by 7NMS
November 18 | 6:30鈥8:00 p.m.

Choreographer Marjani Fort猫-Saunders and sound artist Everett Saunders (together known as 7NMS) perform inside the gallery, creating an improvised, one-night-only dialogue between sound, movement, and the exhibition itself.

麻豆视频Live! Presents: Roxane Gay in Conversation with Alexandra Grant
September 30 | 7:00鈥8:30 p.m.

Bestselling writer Roxane Gay (Bad Feminist, Hunger) sits down with visual artist and cultural collaborator Alexandra Grant for an evening of conversation about writing, art, and culture.

麻豆视频Live! is an ongoing series that brings a diverse lineup of cultural voices to campus for free public events. This talk is made possible by support from Lisa Coscino 鈥85, the Class of 鈥74, and the Antoinette and Vincent M. Dungan Lectureship Fund.

Taylor Mac with Matt Ray 鈥 G. William Hume Fellowship in the Performing Arts
Concert: Friday, October 24 | 7:30 p.m.

Masterclass: Saturday, October 25 | 2:00 p.m.
This year鈥檚 Hume Fellow is Taylor Mac, the Tony-nominated, MacArthur 鈥済enius鈥 grant recipient known for A 24-Decade History of Popular Music. Mac and longtime collaborator Matt Ray perform selections from their celebrated work in a one-night concert, followed by a public masterclass the next day.

Rumors by Neil Simon
November 6鈥8 at 7:30 p.m. | November 9 at 2:00 p.m.

Directed by visiting artist Tyrone Davis, this classic Neil Simon farce kicks off when the Deputy Mayor of New York shoots himself (non-fatally) right before his 10th anniversary party. Cue four couples, miscommunication, and chaos that only keeps escalating.

POTUS by Selina Fillinger
November 20鈥22 at 7:30 p.m. | November 23 at 2:00 p.m.

A single offhand remark by the President spirals into a global crisis, leaving the seven women who keep his administration afloat scrambling to contain the fallout. A 2022 Tony-nominated Broadway hit, POTUS promises sharp humor and timely satire. Directed by Hannah Wolf, this Broadway hit is funny, fast, and a little too real.
