Michael serves as Occidental’s General Counsel, overseeing the legal affairs of the College in furtherance of the College’s mission. He joined the College from Stanford University. During his time at Stanford, he was University Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel, advising on a breadth of issues, including litigation, investigations, faculty and student affairs, compliance, risk management, anti-discrimination, admissions, and intellectual property. He was also Associate Dean of Students and Director of the Office of Community Standards.
Prior to Stanford, Michael was a judicial law clerk in Los Angeles and an attorney in New York University’s Office of General Counsel. He is an active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys. He received his J.D. from NYU School of Law and B.A. from Johns Hopkins University. He is admitted to practice in California and New York.
